Serenity Bathroom

The serenity bathroom was created for the Gregory family as their master bathroom. For this bathroom I used Starry Night by Vincent Van Gogh as an inspiration piece. I was really inspired by the two focal points on the painting, the bright yellow moon on the right and the dark trees on the left side of the painting.Using focal points, movement, and contrast I created the bathroom. My two focal points are the dark shower, and the bright accent lighting in the soffit above the mirrors. Using an exciting mosaic tile on the back wall of the bathroom movement was created along with an interesting shelf that provide additional storage space. The walls in the bathroom were a light grey color and had a great contrast appearance with the dark tile on the floor and in the shower. I enjoyed this project, because I was able to use a great inspiration piece that made the project fun and exciting.

Gregory Kitchen

The Gregory kitchen was inspired by the natural surroundings of the Palouse. When thinking about the project I immediately thought of the Basalt rocks that show through all along the highway in the Palouse region. Using the basalt colors I was able to create a cool, peaceful kitchen with dark colors. The kitchen is very open for plenty of mobility for Mrs. Gregory who is confined to a wheelchair. The most difficult part about the project was my perspectives. At that point in time I was still learning about perspectives and that made it hard for me to draw good perspectives. I like the colors that were used in a kitchen. Most people like natural light and bright colors, but because I did not have much natural light I made up for it with accent lighting, task lighting, and overall lighting. The light and dark colors made for perfect contrast.
